About the Author
James A. Densley is an Associate Professor of Criminal Justice at Metropolitan State University, USA, a member of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and an Associate Member of the Extra-Legal Governance Institute at the University of Oxford, UK. He received the National Gang Crime Research Center Frederick Milton Thrasher Award for Superior Accomplishments in Gang Research in 2013.

A great contribution to the Criminal Justice Community

Dr. Densleys’ fieldwork demystifies gang life. The book covers tremendous ground- examining topics from recruitment practices, to gang organization, to pathways of leaving gang life.
What makes this text truly remarkable and unique are the quotable comments from the actual gang members or associates themselves. Whether a student or scholar, if you want to learn firsthand ‘how a gang member thinks’ this is the book for you.
